Jua Bahari — A Private Villa on the Beach
Jua Bahari — Swahili for Sun and Sea — is a privately owned beachfront villa managed by Villa Juliana, sitting directly on the white sand of Zanzibar's coast.
Born from the vision of its owners Juliana and Beat, the villa reflects their love for the island: understated, generous, and designed for guests who want to feel genuinely at home by the ocean.
Jua Bahari is available as a whole villa for exclusive use, or as two independent units that can be booked separately. The upper floor is a self-contained suite for two, while the lower floor is a two-bedroom unit ideal for small families or friends travelling together. When both units are booked simultaneously by different parties, guests share only the beach and garden — there are no shared interior spaces between floors.
Jua Bahari Upper — Ocean Suite
The top floor is a world of its own. A Zanzibar-style double bed, working desk, ceiling fan, and small kitchenette with fridge make it fully self-sufficient for a couple or solo traveller. The large en-suite bathroom features a walk-in shower, double sink, and separate WC — all wheelchair accessible. Step outside onto the wide verandah to find a dining table and two day beds with uninterrupted views over the Indian Ocean.

Jua Bahari Lower — Garden & Beach
The ground floor offers two double bedrooms and is always reserved as a single unit. The front room enjoys a sea view and natural cross ventilation; the back room is slightly larger with its own side verandah access. Both have Zanzibar-style beds, working desks, ceiling fans, and self-contained bathrooms — the back room bathroom is wheelchair accessible.
The heart of the lower unit is a large kitchen with island, a relaxed dining area, and direct access to the garden with two beach huts steps from the sand. Meals are handled by the Villa Juliana team — breakfast is included, and lunch and dinner are available on request.
Available as a two-bedroom unit for up to four guests, or as part of a whole-villa booking.
Whole Villa
Book all three bedrooms across both floors for exclusive use of the entire property — ideal for larger families, groups of friends, or anyone who simply wants the run of the place. Sleeps up to six.
